Welcome to the MGE AUS Mobile Genetic Elements Meeting
The Mobile Genetic Elements Meeting is the premier forum for MGE research in Australia, and is organized by the Australian Society for Microbiology’s MGE Special Interest Group, MGE AUS. We are a community-focused organisation committed to advancing the study of mobile elements within Australia.
Our meeting brings together leading experts, early-career researchers (ECRs), and students in a supportive environment designed to foster deep collaboration. We provide a unique platform where ECRs and students can showcase finished projects or present work-in-progress, offering an invaluable opportunity to engage with the community and receive constructive feedback across all stages of research. If your science involves transposable or integrative elements, plasmids, or bacteriophages you will find a welcoming space to share your work, build new connections, and learn about the latest MGE developments.
Abstract Submission
Abstract submission opens on the 18th of June, and closes on the 15th of October 2026. We are accepting submissions dealing with any microbial mobile genetic element, examples include plasmids, transposons, insertion sequences, bacteriophages, integrative and conjugative elements, and so on.
Abstracts should be 300 words or less, contain no figures or tables, and should use the provided template.
Keynote speakers
Keynote speakers are soon to be announced. The priority of MGE AUS is to highlight and support emerging mid-career researchers from across Australia. We provide travel stipends for keynote speakers to travel to the meeting.
